Flanagin comes in 6th at schoolgirl golf states

VASSALBORO — The team and individual state championships in golf were held the past two weekends at Natanis Golf Club, with the Fort Fairfield Tigers participating in both events.

On Oct. 6, the Class C team tournament took place and the Tigers placed seventh out of 11 teams with a score of 371. The winning team was St. Dominic with a 319, with Houlton the runner-up with 342.

Robbie Watson shot an 85 to lead Fort Fairfield. Tyler Churchill had a 92, Noah Bernard a 96, Nate Guimond a 98 and Brandon Clark a 100 to round out the list of competitors.

On Saturday, the individual tourney was held. Bernard improved his score from the previous weekend by 16 strokes by carding an 80 and finishing sixth in Class C. Watson shot an 82 to place 11th.

For the girls, Limestone-MSSM’s Meghan Flanagin shot an 88 to place sixth among class A, B and C golfers, just four strokes in back of winner Alice Hwang of Bangor. The Tigers’ Jordann Coiley posted a 109 to place 25th and Caribou’s Katie Pelletier was 34th with a 122.
