CARIBOU — The Caribou Performing Arts Center has announced a busy schedule of events to coincide with the fast-approaching holiday season. Highlighting the schedule are several school and youth performances, along with two nationally touring performers, comedian Bob Marley and Irish storyteller Tomaseen Foley with a production of “A Celtic Christmas.”

Kicking off the schedule on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. is the Caribou Schools Band program, featuring the Teague Park and Caribou middle and high school bands.

On Friday, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m., Woodland School will be conducting a staging of the play “The Fisherman and his Wife.”

On Saturday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m., “Wicked Funny” comedian Bob Marley returns to Caribou for a performance to raise funds for the Caribou Fire Department.

Marley, known as Maine’s King of Comedy, has been featured on Comedy Central and has appeared on all the late-night talk shows.

Advance tickets for Marley’s show are $15 and are available at the Caribou Fire Department, Griffeth Ford, Aroostook Savings & Loan, Gagnon’s Auto and the Aroostook Centre Mall. Tickets purchased at the door will be $20. Proceeds will benefit the CFD’s fund for programs such as Learn Not to Burn and other public awareness campaigns.

Cary Medical Center’s annual Seniority Party will be held on Sunday, Dec. 2.

On Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m., Tomaseen Foley’s family-friendly “A Celtic Christmas” will feature native Irish performers. The show recreates the joy and innocence of a night before Christmas in a farmhouse in a remote parish in the west of Ireland where neighbors gather around the fire to grace the long wintry night with the laughter of their stories, the sounds of their music and the joy of their dances.

Advance tickets for “A Celtic Christmas” are $20 for adults and $15 for children. Tickets can be purchased in Caribou at Paradis Shop’n Save, Sleeper’s and Foster’s Mobil One Stop. In Presque Isle they are on sale at Bradley’s Citgo and the Aroostook Centre Mall. Remaining tickets will be available at the door for $24 for adults and $18 for children.

The Maine Dance Academy’s Christmas Show will be on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. Admission is $5.

The Schools’ Chorus program’s holiday show will be on Monday, Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m., and the Schools’ Strings program’s show will be Thursday, Dec. 20, also at 6:30 p.m.

All the school music holiday shows are free and open to the public.
