PI woman elected as hall director
PORTLAND — Kim Condon Lane, USA Today’s Maine Basketball Player of the Year in 1997 as a senior at Presque Isle High School, has been elected a director of the Maine Sports Hall of Fame.
Lane, also voted Miss Maine Basketball and Maine Gatorade Player of the Year, continued her career at Colby College where she was a 1,000-point scorer, team captain for the 2000-2001 season and recipient of the Pamela Hoyt-Sanborn Award presented to the female student-athlete based upon inspirational leadership and sportsmanship.
Richard L. Whitmore, president of the Maine Sports Hall of Fame who retired in 2011 after 40 seasons as head coach of men’s basketball at Colby, said, “Kim’s background identifies naturally with the ideals and mission of our organization. We are more than pleased to welcome her as a director. I have known Kim since she was an undergraduate at Colby and look forward to serving with her in this new association.”
After graduating from Colby with a bachelor’s degree in government and a minor in art history, Lane served for nine years as a marketing assistant and governmental affairs consultant at Verrill Dana, LLP In Portland. She subsequently earned an associate’s degree in fashion design at the Parsons New School for Design in New York City.
In September, Lane established a fashion design business, Kim Lane, LLC in Richmond, specializing in women’s wear.
