AUGUSTA — The Maine Department of Economic and Community Development has announced it is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Governor’s Award for Business Excellence.
Business excellence is epitomized by a balanced combination of manufacturing and service excellence and a steadfast commitment to employees, customers and the community. This
award is presented to for-profit companies that consistently demonstrate high levels of attentiveness and dedication in these areas.
“The Governor’s Award for Business Excellence showcases business innovation and spirit that has earned Maine a reputation for top-quality workmanship, service and a commitment to excellence,” DECD Commissioner George Gervais said. “We encourage all of Maine’s for-profit businesses to get involved.”
Companies that have been in business in Maine for five or more years may be nominated or may nominate themselves. Completed nomination forms, available on DECD’s website at www.maine.gov/decd/start-grow/business-excellence, are due to the department by Friday, Feb. 15. Winners will be notified prior to an award ceremony to be scheduled in the spring of 2013.
The Governor’s Award for Business Excellence was created in 1991, and 117 companies to date have received the award. In choosing the award, the DECD works with a selection committee comprised of past award recipients and business people.
