Students sought for math event
Students are invited to participate in the American Mathematics Competitions on Feb. 5 (AMC 10A or AMC 12A) or on Feb. 20 (AMC 10B or AMC 12 B). AMC 10 is for students in grade 10 or below, while AMC 12 is for students in grades 11 or 12.
Schools may register to participate in the competition and the students of registered schools may participate in their school any time on Feb. 5 or 20, depending if the school choose AMC 10A and 12A or AMC 10B or AMC 12B.
For schools to register for the competition go to https://amc-reg.maa.org/r/competitions/registrations/amc1012/add.aspx?competition_id=9. You need the zip code of the location of the school. If you need help with registration, contact Eva Szillery evaszillerymmsets@gwi.net or call 356-0207.
If your school is not participating as a school in the competition, you are invited to register to participate in the competition at the following college sites: Feb. 5, 2013 — Husson University, The University of Maine at Presque Isle, The University of Southern Maine (Portland) and Colby College; and Feb. 20, 2013 — Bowdoin College.
AMC 10 and AMC 12 at these locations is available for individual students and the registration is paid by the institutions of higher education listed. Home-schooled students or students from private schools are all invited to participate.
Registration is required (but it is free of charge). Call or e-mail Szillery to express your intent to participate.
