Brown, Freddie R., Sr., 75, January 14, 2013.  Interment to be in the Woodland Cemetery.  Arrangements by Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou.


WOODLAND – Freddie R. Brown Sr., 75, well-known area businessman and Woodland community member, died unexpectedly January 14, 2013 at his Woodland residence. He was born in Woodland November 8, 1937, the son of the late Kenneth L. and Mabel (McLaughlin) Brown.

He married Phyliss Adams. Freddie owned and operated Freddie R. Brown and Sons Construction as well as Freddie Brown and Sons Trucking for many years. Mr. Brown was a longtime faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Woodland, where he served as an usher and a deacon of the church. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing, snowmobiling and four wheeling. He was a longtime member of the ACCA as well as various snowmobile and ATV clubs in the area. He also enjoyed watching wrestling.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Phyliss, of Woodland, are his seven children, Freddie R. Brown Jr. and wife Harriet, Steven Brown and wife Judy, Miles Brown and wife Suzanne, Preston Brown Sr., Sheila Foss and husband Philip, Kenneth Brown and wife Linda, Wendy-Jo Brown and longtime friend Steven St. Pierre; ten grandchildren, Herbert and wife Janelle, Elisha and wife Holly, Christopher, Eric, Ashlee, Miles Jr., Becky, Preston Jr. and fiancé Janelle, Barbara and fiancé Jerry, Karen and husband Chad; thirteen great-grandchildren, Mark, Ethan, Christian, Mickayla, Dylan, Evan, Cherish, Destiny, Zachary, Dylan, Casey, Major, and Madalyn; his siblings, Lena Skidgel, Gloria Ketch and husband Philip Sr., Darlene Griffeth and husband Ronald, Vincent Brown and wife Carolyn, Pamela Goodine and husband Stephen Sr.; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Brown was predeceased by a sister, Alice Adams, a daughter-in-law, Cindy Brown and brothers-in-law, Herbert Adams and Edgar Skidgel Sr.

Friends called at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Woodland with Rev. Ron Rosser officiating. Interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery.
