Drew Freme, left, a graduate of Caribou High School, 2007, and Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, 2011, has been promoted from staff assistant to systems administrator in U.S. Sen. Susan Collins’ Washington office. As systems administrator, Freme is responsible for managing Collins’ information technology needs. In the past year, Freme has implemented new programs that enrich the office’s digital capabilities and has developed strategies that make it easier for constituents to contact Collins. In addition, Luther Whiting, a former New Sweden resident, has been hired as a staff assistant on the Senate Special Committee on Aging, on which Collins will be the senior Republican member. As the ranking Republican on this committee, Collins will be in a key position to focus attention on issues that are vitally important to Maine and America’s aging population such as health-care, long-term care, elder fraud and abuse, retirement savings and research on diseases like Alzheimer’s and diabetes. Whiting had previously served as an intern in Senator Collins’ office.
