Monday, Feb. 11 was a great example of many organizations working together to support growth and opportunity in Aroostook County as representatives of several development agencies spoke with Houlton Rotarians.
LEAD was organized by a group of community leaders willing to commit their valuable time to improve the future of Aroostook County.

LEAD, Inc., a non-profit corporation, was established in 1986 for the purpose of fostering and encouraging the balanced development of Aroostook County. Today, LEAD is celebrating over a decade of achievement with the continued support of individuals and businesses.
LEAD Aroostook partners with Aroostook Partnership for Progress on many occasions along with all local Aroostook Development Agencies. LEAD Aroostook has played a crucial role in the Northern Rail continuing. All agencies worked together in forming the North-South Highway — Caribou bypass, which is now finished. They also work closely with the local schools to both inform them of the potential employment opportunities and to bring new programs into the local colleges to keep our kids staying close to home (or at least try).
LEAD members work with politicians to increase business-friendly environments to encourage more business and participate in the political debates in order to have Aroostook County’s voice heard. They attend the Aroostook Day at the Legislature to keep lawmakers informed about what is happening in Aroostook and what the needs are to encourage more growth and stability in The County.
