Soucy, Maurice T., 79, February 14, 2013. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at the Parish of the Precious Blood, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by a time of fellowship in the parish hall. CONNOR TWP. – Maurice T. Soucy, 79, died February 14, 2013 at Bangor. He was born on August 24, 1933 in Seigas N.B. Canada, the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Fournier) Soucy.
He married Anita Mazerolle and they moved to Connor to begin their family. Mr. Soucy was a hardworking woodsman for a number of years and in 1966 he became an ironworker and joined the Iron Workers Local 496. Maurice enjoyed his new occupation immensely and traveled to many states, framing and building numerous structures and bridges.
He was a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was also a Fourth Degree member of the Fred V. Brescia Council 1870 Knights of Columbus. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed telling his “tall tales” at his sons’ repair shop and local eateries over coffee, while also enjoying the company of his many friends.
Surviving in addition to his loving and devoted wife of over 56 years, Anita, are his children, Josee Strachan and husband, Robb, of Calgary, Alberta, Bobby Soucy of Connor, Yvan Soucy and his significant other, Doreen, of Colchester, CT, Norman Soucy and his significant other, Alma, of Woodland, Nelson Soucy of Connor, Gerald Soucy and wife, Mila, of Mayfield, N.Y., and Jim Soucy and wife, Tammy, of Connor; one sister, Gaby Monette of Montreal; his grandchildren, whom he adored and enjoyed spending time with, Jessica Fauve, Allison and Josh Soucy, Chaster Johnson, Danielle, Rachel and Jessica Soucy, and Anita Soucy; several nieces and nephews.
Friends called at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday February 20, 2013 from the Parish of the Precious Blood, Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Emile Dube, officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Following the services all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the parish hall.
