CARIBOU — For the seventh year in a row, the Loring Military Heritage Center provided sweet treats to local businesses and individuals when they held their annual Brownie a la Mode fundraiser this Valentine’s Day.
Nine hundred and forty-one delicious snacks were sold this year, Cuppy Johndro, organizer of the event, advised as she sat among the multi tables full of already prepared brownies waiting to be smothered with vanilla ice cream, chocolate topping and sprinkles.
Making the brownies, topping them off and delivering them are the duties a dozen or so volunteers perform every year to raise money for the heritage center. The proceeds go toward the purchase of fuel and special projects that the museum embarks upon.
“We appreciate the support,” Johndro stated. “Shop’n Save donates the eggs used in the brownies and the Jade Palace gives us the cups we use at cost. Those are both a big help.”

According to Johndro, a delivery as far away as Houlton was scheduled for this year’s batch of brownies.
