LITTLEFIELD, Merle I., 83, MASARDIS, March 1, 2013. A graveside service with military honors will be held at the Masardis Municipal Cemetery at a time to be announced in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, Ashland.
MASARDIS – Merle I. Littlefield, 83, died unexpectedly at his Masardis residence March 1, 2013. He was born in Masardis, Feb. 2, 1930, the son of Ivan L. and Ruth A. (Snow) Littlefield.
He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War, working as a heavy equipment operator. He returned to Masardis and did the same work building roads and construction in the North Maine Woods. Merle retired in 1995 and enjoyed every day of his retirement. He was an avid sportsman and loved the woods, wildlife, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his brother, Vaughn E. Littlefield and his wife, Elaine of Mapleton; a sister-in-law, Patricia Littlefield of Roseville, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Warren N. Littlefield.
At Merle’s request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service with military honors will be held at the family lot of the Masardis Municipal Cemetery at a time to be announced in the spring.
