Local squads earn Sportmanship Banners

sp-GHCA boys banner-dc-pt-10GHCA SELECTED — The Greater Houlton Christian Academy boys varsity basketball team was selected as the recipient of the MPA Class D East Boys Basketball Sportsmanship award for the 2012-13 season. The Eagles,

who also received the same award last year, were presented with the banner Saturday at the Bangor Auditorium. Accepting the banner are, front row from left, Dana Brown, Caleb Lincoln, Deyrell Vargas, Aaron Holmes, Russell Socoby, Barrett Potter, athletic administrator; and back, Ethan Jacques, Samuel Carmichael, Coach Milton and Joshua Winslow. Beginning in the fall of 2012, the MPA changed the voting system so that all schools, not just the teams making the Bangor Tournament, were eligible. The recipient of the award is now selected by the votes of all the schools in Class D.
