CROWN AMBULANCE EMPLOYEES recently presented a $180 donation to Cindy Patten of Martha & Mary’s Soup Kitchen in Presque Isle. Pictured are, from left: Matthew McPherson, Patten, Kimberly Whittaker, John Whittaker and Benjamin Everett.
Crown employees participated in a silent auction of items donated by local businesses. In addition, some handcrafted items made by Crown employees Kenna Prue and John Whittaker were up for bid during the auction. Items were bid on by those in attendance, which included current and past employees, along with their families.
The silent auction raised $180 for Martha and Mary’s Soup Kitchen, which has been serving county residents with hot, free meals for over 20 years.
“We serve from 60 to 80 meals every Monday, Wednesday and Friday all year long,” said Cindy Patten, a manager at Martha and Mary’s Soup Kitchen. “This donation will go toward food purchases, as well as paying utility bills.”
“It is nice to be able to give something to our community,” said Ben Everett, supervisor for the Presque Isle ambulance base. “Thanks to all of the local businesses and individuals that donated items for the auction.”
Martha and Mary’s Soup Kitchen is always looking for volunteers and donations.
