CARIBOU — Volunteer William (Bill) Thomas of Woodland was recently honored during an American Red Cross Aroostook Advisory Board meeting for his volunteer efforts during two deployments to assist recovery efforts following Superstorm Sandy.

Thomas deployed twice to Long Island, New York, driving the Aroostook County Branch Chapter’s Emergency Response Vehicle hundreds of miles and by helping deliver food and blankets to thousands of impacted residents. His experience in the Empire State also involved shelter work and warehouse tasks.
Red Cross officials added that Thomas is active with several other community organizations and gives selflessly of himself when there is a need.
