East Grand Outdoor Education Instructor Dave Conley did a summary of what the students had to do while winter camping.
Chelsea Winiarski also wrote from her perspective about the overnight trip.

East Grand Outdoor Education students recently took part in an overnight winter camp outing on Upper Hot Brook Lake in Danforth. Students divided up into groups of two and three, made snow shelters and cookedtheir food oven an open fire.

Later in the evening, the students took part in a mile-long compass hike (night hike) led by student Kim Stoddard. Students learned to trust in Kim’s ability to read her compass correctly as she took several bearings (turns). While some doubted her ability to keep the group on track, the fourth bearing or leg of the night hike landed the group right back at the campsite.
