NEWPORT, RI – Regina Louise (Thompson) Calibani, 90, of Fowler Ave., Newport, died Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Village House Nursing Home, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Everett Calibani.
Born in Presque Isle, ME, on November 15, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Lamont Thompson and Mary Ellen (Sweeney) Thompson.
Mrs. Calibani was a dedicated Communicant of St. Joseph´s Church in Newport, where she served as a Eucharistic minister, volunteered for the Harvest Fair and in the soup kitchen. Regina was a dedicated wife and mother. She was married to Everett for 59 years, beginning in 1945 upon his return home from the war.
She is survived by her son, Hugh L. Calibani, Newport; a sister, Helen Goodreau, Westfield, MA; and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Walter, Hugh and Ronald Thompson; her sisters, Flora Carlson and Gertrude Goan.
Calling hours were held on Thursday, March 21, 2013, from 5-7 p.m., at the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Her funeral was held Friday, March 22, at 9 a.m., at the Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial was in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the Robert Potter League For Animals, P.O.
