    Happenings this week at the Mars Hill Rec are plentiful.

    Thursday, March 28 — Swimming lessons, session II. Leave from the school, return at 4:15 p.m. Still time to sign up. Contact the Rec at 429-8429 or Jamie at 227-7194 if you are interested in signing up your child.
    Saturday, March 30 — The annual Easter Egg Hunt at Fort Street. Muffins and juice provided 8-9 a.m., with the Easter Egg Hunt at 9 a.m. The Easter Bunny will be there so bring your camera.
    Monday, April 1 The Triathlon Club begins. Athletes will be swimming at UMPI after school, returning to Fort Street at 4:30 p.m. Athletes are training for the triathlon at UMO on April 20. Those competing in September are also encouraged to train with the club now. If you have any questions about this, contact the Rec or Jamie. Additional consents are needed prior to swimming at UMPI.

    Two-year-old cousins Rebecca Shaw and Collin McCrum enjoyed the balloon animals made for them by Shrine Klowns Disco and Gampy during the Mars Hill and Blaine Winterfest activities March 9.

    Doctor Nicholas and Tom Trafford were just two of the 28 players taking part in the popular Cribbage Tournament held during this year’s Winterfest on March 9 in Mars Hill. This year’s tournament was won by Scott Archer with a score of 721. Second place went to Shaun Johnston (715) and third place went to Connor Clukey (707) of Herman

    EASTON’S RECREATION TEAM took part in the game on Friday, March 8, during Winterfest activities in Mars Hill. School registration

    SAD 42 will be having registration for the 3-, 4- and 5-year-old programs for the 2013-14 school year. The registration will be held on Friday, April 5, at the Fort Street Elementary School and is open to 3-, 4- and 5-year-old children of the Mars Hill, Blaine and Bridgewater area.

Rotary Club

    The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday morning, March 19, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. The special speaker was Roger Libby, master of the Aroostook Masonic Lodge. He spoke about the Bikes for Books Program, where bikes and helmets will be given to two students from each class at Fort Street Elementary School, grades K – 6.
    The program kicked off on March 25 at an assembly at the school and will run through May 10. It will be monitored by Donna Chasse, school librarian. The goal is to get kids to read more.

Aroostook Health Center

    Upcoming events for the week of March 27 through April 2 include: Wednesday will have the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Wii Bowling at 9 a.m., Crossword Puzzles at 9:30 a.m. and an UNO Tournament at 1:30 p.m. Thursday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Easter Egg Bingo at 9:30 a.m., Horse Racing at 1:30 p.m. and United Methodist Church at 6:30 p.m. Friday is Doctor’s Day and will feature Table Tennis at 9:30 a.m., Lunch at Gram Russo’s at 11 a.m., Doctor’s Celebration at 2 p.m. and an Easter Bonnet Parade at 2:30 p.m. Saturday will feature Dayroom Cinema “A Walton Easter” at 1:30 p.m. Sunday is Easter and a free day. Monday will include Moving and Memories at 9:30 a.m., Catholic Mass at 1:30 p.m. and Gospel Group at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Card Games at 1:30 p.m. All of these activities are subject to change.
