My passion is prehistoric life. Why, well it’s because prehistoric life is very interesting also it will help me to be a paleontologist when I grow up. Their are many weird animals in the past. Arthropleura for example. Arthropleura was a giant arthropod that looks similar to a millipede and arthropleura was bigger then most people .
When you think about the past, you think about dinosaurs. When I think about the past I think about the Paleozoic Era. Paleozoic is a time period before the first dinosaur came along. This was the time were arthropleura lived and died. Paleozoic ended in the late Triassic when a mentor hit the Earth and killed 99 precent of all animals on land and sea. Some animal species died off like dimetrodon. Dimetrodon is a reptile that had a sail on it back. It was used to heat up it body and to also cool it down. It weighed 550 pounds and was a powerful hunter.
I know many animals in the past. When I grow up I want to be an archaeology/ paleontologist. I want to be the guy who’s in the hole, also want to dig in the hole to find a new species of dinosaur or other reptiles. I think it will be cool to travel the world. I think it will be also be cool to know news things and do new things.
This will help me in the future because when I grow up I want to be an archaeology /paleontologist. A paleontologist is a person who studies ancient life and an archaeology is the studies of the past.

My passion is softball. I love softball so much. It’s so fun to have the experience of hitting a ball, running to bases, being in the field trying to catch the ball. Also hanging with friends after game or between games. Getting Ice-cream after games and cheering for your friends. But most of all just going out on the field and having fun.
I’ve never liked sports until last summer. My brother was playing t-ball and when I watched him play it looked so fun, I asked my mom if I could play rec softball. I was nervous that I wouldn’t have any friends there or I would be the worst player on our team. When I got there I noticed my best friends Riley and Sydney were doing it. Im pretty good at softball now. I can throw and hit. When we were playing this summer we got to the championships. We won the Maine Potato Blossom Championships and the County Championships. I got two medals, it made me so happy. In the County Championship I was up to the base ready to hit, the ball came soaring towards me, I hit the ball and started running. That hit got me to second base and I got two people home which made us score two runs.
My passion is not going to be my career, I just love to do softball for fun and it’s a good way to exercise. Also I get ice-cream when ever I win a game, it’s my treat from my mom.

My passion is to work with animals when I’m a veterinarian. I want to be a vet because I love to be around animals. I think animals or pets should be treated like people or humans. The most interesting thing about pets I think is they all act different, just like humans. House pets are usually smaller, and would be easier to work with than larger animals. I sometimes wish that animals could talk, because when pets are annoying I could make it stop.
I love movies and books about or with animals in them. In my room I have thirty or forty pictures of animals. I sleep with my cat named Belle at night. She is my best friend in the whole world because I can tell her anything I want to. I like to give my cat human food sometimes, but my mom tells me it isn’t good for Belle.

“I have a dream…” about my passions: one is strange and the other is helpful. I go home and do the weird one about 3 to 4 days a week. My other passion I do twice a week at home. I like doing one of them daily. My favorite is the weird one. Though I am giving to other people and gaining knowledge with the second.
I really have to admit this one sounds very strange! It is something that I like to do on my own time, when I have nothing else to do. Ok, sorry for the wait, but it is… recording YouTube videos. Yes I know it is weird. Though if I get a partnership it won’t be a waste of time. Basically a partnership is a person on YouTube who gets paid for each and every view. To get a partnership you need 1,000 subscribers and 10,000 views. If you want to get a partnership from a company, not from YouTube, you usually have to have roughly 20,000 subscribers. Seems like it would take forever, but once you have like 5,000, you start to gain at least 500 a week. It is something I would like to do for a while. I most likely wouldn’t want to do it for a full time job. It is a cool concept though.
My second one is free rice. It is fun and helpful to others. It has a fun game mechanic that makes you want to get as much rice as possible. You are also learning and I don’t really notice it. Also, the rice you earn will go to kids or adults in need of food. I think that is pretty neat. I hope more kids try it; but adults could try it also. I think I have at least 5000 grains of rice earned. I don’t like rice, so at least someone gets to eat it!
I thought if I shared this, other people would want to start a YouTube channel or try free rice. I think we could make a big difference in world hunger, if more people tried free rice. I almost forgot, but the website for free rice is: freerice.com.

My passion is singing and writing. If I couldn’t sing I would be bored all the time. If I couldn’t write I would probably just sit there all day having nothing to do. I joined chorus so I could sing. I would like to get to be perfect in singing. I hope one day I become a famous singer or try out for X-factor someday. X-factor is where you sing and you try out to be a perfect singer and move on to the big time. I would like to become a perfect pitch singer when I become 18 years old.
If I ever get on X-factor I would thank my chorus teacher Mrs. King, my friends, and family. One of my other passions are writing poems, stories, and things like that. Even we did poetry packets in Mrs. Bouchard’s ELA class. I thought it was pretty fun. Mrs. Bouchard inspired me to write stories and stuff and so thats what I started to do so if my singing career does not pay off, I’m going to try and be an author.

My passion is soccer. I love to play soccer all the time. I was on the Caribou Middle School team. When we had a game to go to, all day my heart was pumping so hard I could hear it. I love soccer because I love it when I’m at a game and I’m running out on the field and seeing everyone cheering us on. I like seeing all the lights down on the field. I started playing soccer when I was about 5 and I loved it then too! This year we won Aroostook League Champs!
On one of our games I went out to play goalie andd the ball came close to the goal but I didn’t want to get it yet because I almost got kicked in the face, then one of my team mates kicked it away, but it went through the air and one of the other people kicked it back to the goal so I jumped into the air and wacked it with my hand and it went out! Everyone was cheering and yelling because they were so happy. Thats why soccer’s my passion.

My passion is skiing. I love to ski out on the trails. Whenever I have a meet it gets my blood pumping and when I’m about to start I get anxious, butterflies or I even have to go to the  bathroom, but when I start I don’t waste all of my energy trying to beat the person ahead of me. I always get one number less than one of my friends and I usually start with her and at our last race I got twenty second and my friend got fifteenth!
I have skied since I was about nine years old. I was in a program called “SkiDaddle” ran by the Caribou Red Department. We had a lot of fun and I was in that program for 2 years. Now I ski on the Caribou Middle School ski team which is really fun. This Wednesday we have our County skate meet. The Carbiou girls won all of their meets and I’m hoping that we can win this meet.
I love to ski. And hope that my children will fall in love with the sport as much as I do. The reason I love the sport is getting out to see how beautiful the trails are and getting active and that’s the reason I picked this passion.

Nick Guerrette,
CMS, Grade 6

My passion is farming. My dad and my two uncles run Guerrette Farms. On weekends and breaks, my dad brings me to work with him and every thing I do there I love to do. I use a lot of machinery like fork lifts, skid steers, tractors, the backhoe and trucks. Next year in the summer my dad said that he is going to teach me how to drive the potato trucks. He also said I can do a part time fork lift job.
A long time ago, before I got into using machinery I always used to pick rocks and I hated picking rocks. When my dad asked if I wanted to go to work I always tried to get out of it somehow. Now I when my dad asks if I want to go to work I always go with him because I know I wouldn’t be picking rocks. When I get older I want to learn how to drive the things I do not know how to drive like the excavator, the potato trucks, the dump truck and the pay loader. At our farm we use to have farm animals of every kind but now that we are to busy with potatoes we don’t have animals anymore. I love farming and I an going to be a farmer when I grow up.

Jacob Soucy,
CMS, Grade 6

My passion is baseball, because it is my favorite sport and I play it every summer. I started baseball at the Caribou Recreation Center, and became pretty good. I would not have learned how to play baseball if I had not played at the Recreation Center for so many years. Then when I got to be nine years old I tried out for Little League and made Key Bank, and I still play now. I enjoy every game as if it were my last, and every practice as if it was a game.
This year will be my third year of Little League out of four total years. I love baseball so much I keep my glove with a ball in it in my room year round. I love how the air smells at the beginning of each season. It’s fun meeting up with your fellow teammates and talking about the Little League season before it even starts. It’s fun meeting the new players each and every season. To me hitting is the best part of each game.
In the future I plan on playing Middle school, High school, College, and hopefully the MLB. I plan on trying out for Middle school this year and every year I am at the Middle school and High school. I am either going to Boston University or Boston College for College and I’m hoping I make the Boston Red Sox, and if I don’t I’ll try again, and again unless I make another team. Even if I don’t make the Red Sox at least I’ll be in the MLB.

CMS, Grade 6

My passion is dancing, even though it can be really hard sometimes I still do it because it’s so fun!
I started dancing with The Maine Dance Academy when I was only two years old! That means I am going on my ninth year. Back when I started, I wasn’t that good. All I did was jump up and down! But it did get me used to being on stage in front of a lot of people. It has helped me today because now I love performing on stage!
At school I am kind of afraid to admit that I love to dance and I don’t really like talking about it because some kids don’t understand my passion. That doesn’t stop me from dancing because they have never seen me dance and they don’t know how much fun it is. When I dance, I feel so beautiful and graceful. I also feel really great that I am able to dance and learn all the songs we dance to.
Something that I love about myself is that when we get a lot of choreography that is really hard and long, sometimes I say to myself, “Why do something that I don’t have to work at and it always comes easily to me?” That would be too easy and everybody would be able to do it. It’s the hard dances that set me apart from everyone else. This helps me to be persistent and never give up.
My goal for the future is to be a dancer that gets to perform on TV. There were these two dancers that won in a competition that allowed them to dance on a TV show. And someday I hope to do that kind of thing with my friend too.
Even though I love to dance, dancing isn’t my only passion.I also really enjoy music. Playing musical instruments expresses in dance and dance expresses in music!
I really love my passions and I hope that someday my dancing will make a difference in the world!

My passion is camping. The reason my passion is camping is because I can do so much when I’m camping. You can go fishing, hiking, swimming, and biking. I love camping. I go camping every year with my family; my mom, dad, and brother. My favorite place to go is Acres of Wildlife. It’s near Steep Falls, Maine. If you like camping, I would recommend     Acres of Wildlife.
When I’m at Acres I like to go to the man-made sand beach and swim in the nice warm water, or go to one of the three playgrounds. I also like to go biking on the roads or on the mountain bike trails. Sometimes I just stay in my camper or play mini-golf. There is so much you can do when camping. Occasionally, I think I want to work at Acres of Wildlife when I grow up. I would want to work in the store where it is air conditioned. I also would like to maintain the arcade or even be an activity leader. I’d be very busy because they have activities every hour. Camping is just one of my passions, I have many but I chose to tell you about this one.

My passion is basketball. I have been playing basketball since I was around two years old, and I played almost all day long. I had a little three or four foot hoop, with a mini basketball that I dribbled or shot with. Even when my relatives were at my house, I would shoot a basketball. It was second nature for me at that age. When I was three or four I got up to about a seven or eight foot hoop to shoot, and a bigger basketball. It took me about one hundred times to make a shot, but I didn’t go inside my house until I made a shot. I was very persistent, and I still am. When I was six or seven and it was around Christmas time, I asked for a newer and bigger basketball hoop that goes up to six feet. On Christmas day, I saw the hoop and played with it for two or three hours. In second grade, the coaches of third and fourth grade AYBL, asked me and three other kids to try out for the team. I tried out, and I made it! In my third game I made my first two points, and boy was I excited! I believe I only scored about ten points that season, but I was so happy!
The next year for my third grade year of AYBL, I counted the stats on the AYBL website, I think I scored seventy four points in that season. Best of all, I made the travel team! One of the highlights was we went to a tournament in Waterville. We lost one game, but won two. There was another tournament in Pittsfield, when our team was the runner up! We only lost two games. In fourth grade, in the regular season, I believe I scored over one hundred points, and again made the travel team! We beat an undefeated team (Lawrence). They were so upset, you could just tell they were angry since they didn’t go undefeated.
This is why my passion is basketball.

Kassie Krul,
CMS, Grade 6

My passion is playing soccer. I really enjoy playing it at anytime. My dad owns a soccer business so I have been playing there my whole life. He had a chance to play professional soccer for Holland, since he was born there, but he chose to go to college instead. He got me really into it and I found it very enjoyable. I also knew that I had to practice a lot if I wanted to get good like my dad.
I have been playing soccer since I was a little girl. I started to play for real when I was 4 or 5. I have loved it and played it since then, and it is still my favorite sport. When I am playing soccer it takes a lot of energy out of me just like any other sport, but it is good exersize. It is fun to dribble around the grass and shoot in the goal. It is even more fun in games because you get to play against people from other places. It’s cool because a lot of people from other towns play soccer with my dad and I am good friends with them so it is even more fun to see and play with them.
I find soccer enjoyable so I play it. Some people don’t think that they are good enough, but all they need to do is practice and do it more. You can’t just wish you will be good at it, you have to actually do it. You might find it really fun and surprise yourself and be good. Try things that seem to look interesting and decide from there. I have a passion for many things like other sports and instruments. I still have to have school first and do those second but that is okay, I still have time for them. Soccer is my passion so I am going to continue to persue it.
