Ludlow needs change

To the editor:
I am running for the seat on the Board of Selectmen in the town of Ludlow. I will start by telling you a little about myself. I grew up in Linneus. I later attended The South Jersey Professional School of Business where I earned a license in property and casualty insurance. I have continued my education in insurance and still hold my license. I have worked at a local restaurant for the last eight years and enjoy working with the public.

I am writing this now to encourage Ludlow residents to vote on Thursday, March 28 at the Ludlow Town Office. The voting will take place from 2 to 6 p.m., with the annual town meeting to follow at 7 p.m. I would like to see some major changes to our troubled town. I believe we need to see more accountability in our money management, accuracy in details, and knowledge of State of Maine statues and consequences.
Two other items that we will be voting on, is the ability to, as a town, recall selectmen. Not only does this protect the citizens from selectmen that are not doing the job as elected to do, but will give the people a voice. It will still require a lot of work, specific reasons for the recall, and 55 percent of those voting would have to vote to recall before any removal could take place. This new ordinance will also affect me as I am running for the seat on the board.
The other question on the ballot is to elect a five-member select board and for a couple of reasons I believe this to be a good step for our town. As it stands right now only two out of three of our selectmen were able to make any decisions on a certain matter because the other member had worked for and got paid by the town and by law was unable to have any discussion on the matter. In those cases you would have more people to make decisions and discuss the issues.
In a small town like Ludlow and with the mismanagement over the last few years, I believe it is important to have more people involved. I believe I am the best candidate to move things forward in Ludlow and would like a chance to work for the people. I would be open to hearing all questions, concerns, and ideas from the citizens in hopes of a much smoother running town. I am strong, dependable, passionate, and determined to make a difference. I would appreciate you vote and look forward to seeing you on election day.
