I’m glad I chose the CDL program because I’m interested in driving trucks. It’s something I wanted to do in life and this program is a good start for me. After school, I hope to get a job driving trucks. I’ve never been out of the state of Maine and as a truck driver, I’d be able to earn money while I experience what other states have to offer. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to drive through a big city or across an open desert. While I drive through other cities and towns, I think it would be interesting to see how other people talk and dress and how they do things differently from how we do up here in Caribou.
Although I’m looking forward to exploring the country, I also would like to come back to Caribou and settle down some day. Having a CDL gives me the job security to qualify for many different high wage jobs in the local area. Not only am I learning how to drive a commercial truck, but I’m also learning how to perform maintenance on them as well. Even if I don’t end up driving truck for the rest of my lie, having a CLS will allow for many more job opportunities, such as working at the Maine DOT or for a construction company.
