CARIBOU — The theme was “Up, Up and Away” as 13 contestants vied for the title of Little Miss Caribou, Connor, New Sweden and Woodland on March 23 at the Caribou Performing Arts Center.

Mistress of Ceremonies Sandi Bouchard began the pageant by introducing this year’s contestants and the 2012 queens as they performed a dance routine to the song “Up, Up and Away.” Visiting queens from other towns were introduced and the judged portion of the competition began with the fashion walk.
After the walk, 2012 Little Miss Caribou Edie Shea and 2012 Little Miss Connor Jessica Leavitt entertained the crowd with musical selections, and the competition continued with the talent portion of the show.
The remaining two 2012 queens, Macy Wakem of Woodland and Mikaela Spooner of New Sweden, then provided their final performances as their town’s reigning Little Miss before the 2013 contestants competed in the evening gown competition.
After all competition was complete, the 2012 Little Miss queens bid farewell to the audience, each escorted onto the stage by their fathers.
Bouchard then announced that pageant judges Kelly Hemphill of Presque Isle, Jessica Dionne of Fort Fairfield, and Susan Watson, also of Presque Isle, chose Claire Elizabeth Ouellette as 2013 Little Miss Caribou, Jessica Grace Soucy as Little Miss Connor, Amalla Jende Peterson as Little Miss New Sweden and Amanda Ahrahm Poulin as Little Miss Woodland.
Directed by Cheryl Bossie and sponsored by the Lister Knowlton VFW Auxiliary, the proceeds from the Little Miss pageant benefited the Auxiliary’s Cancer Aid and Research program.
