A NEW PRESQUE ISLE KeyBank branch will be built on north Main Street in the area in front of the Hampton Inn. Heavy equipment is presently onsite preparing the ground for the construction project, which is expected to open sometime this fall. Details such as dimensions, the names of the developer and contractor, and the number of parking spaces will be announced at a later time.
“We are so early in the process [to release details] which is why we’ve made no public announcement,” said Therese Myers, vice president and director of public relations for KeyBank, in a telephone interview last Thursday. “However, we are building a new Presque Isle branch.”
Myers, who is based in Albany, N.Y., said KeyBank has been in the Star City for decades.
“It’s a very important community to us; not only to the New England district but to Key in general,” she said.
When asked what prompted plans for a new branch, Myers said, “I think at times you just need to refresh your look, and technology changes … things like you just don’t have enough outlets in the walls. It’s time for a change.”
It is unclear what KeyBank plans to do with its current 187 State St. and 1 North St. locations.
Details such as dimensions, the names of the developer and contractor, and the number of parking spaces will be announced at a later time.
Myers said she expects the new branch to be open sometime this fall.
