What is DI?

Students at the Limestone Community School have been excelling in Destination ImagiNation and other related competitions for decades, but what exactly is Destination ImagiNation?

According to the Destination ImagiNation website, Destination Imagination, Inc. is a non-profit organization that helps kids around the world discover their creativity.
“We create programs that teach the creative process, so kids can solve problems in astonishing ways,” the site creators write. “Our kids build a lifelong confidence in working together to solve any challenge.”
This year marks the 30th anniversary for Destination ImagiNation, and Limestone’s three teams will be participating in the historic event May 22-25 with a record number of participating teams (1,419) from 42 states and 14 countries.
As the website states, “the Destination ImagiNation program encourages teams of learners to have fun, take risks, focus, and frame challenges while incorporating STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), the arts, and service learning. Our participants learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative problem solving process.”
Additional information about the Destination ImagiNation program can be found by visiting www.destinationimagination.org.

Wanna help?

Want to help Limestone’s Destination ImagiNation teams make their way to Nashville, Tenn.? It’s as easy (and as fun) as attending a chicken stew dinner and silent auction on Saturday, May 18, at the Limestone Community School — and the entertainment will be provided by none other than Limestone’s three champion teams.
The high school, middle level and elementary DI teams will perform, for the public, the same skits that they’re hoping will impress the judges at Global competition.
Dinner will be $7 for adults and $5 kids between the ages of 6 and 12. Dinner starts at 6:30, with the silent auction starting at 6 p.m.
