Memorial Day will be celebrated on Monday, May 27, with the following events taking place in the area:
• Stockholm — wreath laying ceremonies — 9 a.m., Old Catholic Cemetery in Stockholm; 9:15 a.m., New Catholic Cemetery in Stockholm; 9:30 a.m., Stockholm Cemetery; 10 a.m., New Sweden Cemetery; 10:30 a.m., Westmanland Cemetery; 11 a.m., Jemptland Cemetery; and 11:30 a.m., Cross Lake Cemetery. At noon there will be a memorial service at the Stockholm American Legion Post home, to include a “Post Everlasting” ceremony and wreath laying at the Stockholm Bridge.
• Caribou — Memorial Day Parade — sponsored by the Lister-Knowlton Caribou VFW Post and the Caribou Area Chamber of Commerce. The parade begins at 10 a.m. at the Caribou Courthouse on Sweden St. and continues to the Veterans’ Memorial Park on South Main St. Lineup begins at 9:30 a.m. at the courthouse. • Caribou — Memorial Day Ceremony — Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. at the cemetery. Keynote speakers include Joshua M. de Leon, director of Veterans Grant Services, NCA, and Major General Earl Adams, U.S. Army retired.
• Caribou — VFW ceremony — Maine Veterans’ Home. The Lister-Knowlton Caribou VFW Post will host a small ceremony at 2:30 p.m.
