BU-CLR-rotary-dcx-pt-21The guest speaker of the Houlton Rotary Club May 20 was Major (retired) W.E. (Gary) Campbell. He was a member of the Canadian Forces for 42 years, serving in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. He has studied at the University of Western Ontario, the Royal Military College, and the University of New Brunswick, where he completed his PhD in history. He spoke on his book “The Aroostook War of 1839”. Campbell is also the author of volume 5 in the NBMHP series, “The Road to Canada”. He gave us an overview of his book sounding like well worth reading and seeing it from a British perspective. Taking part in the discussion are, from left, Ryan Bushey, Rotary president; Campbell; and Leigh Cummings, Rotarian.
