HOULTON – Claude L. Nickerson, 93, passed away Sunday May 26, 2013, at a Houlton hospital. He was born April 3, 1920, in Hodgdon, the son of Chester and Della (Richardson) Nickerson.
Claude served his country in WWII as a mechanic in the 91st Bomb Group. After his discharge, he worked for many years at various parts and mechanic establishments. He was a Master Mason of the Monument #96 AF & AM and also attended the Houlton Wesleyan Church.
Claude enjoyed wood-working, gardening, and especially having coffee with his friends at McDonald’s.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Ladd of Houlton; eight children, Blaine Nickerson and his wife, Debbie, of Houlton, Michael Nickerson and his wife, Joni, of New Gloucester, Arnie Ladd and his wife, Maureen, of Chicago, Nelson Ladd and his wife, Pat, of Connecticut, Barry Ladd of Sherman, Geraldine McAfee of Houlton, Rose Blight of Florida, and Nancy Tingley and her husband, Gary, of New Limerick; as well as many grandchildren, great-grand-children, and great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two sisters, Avis Martel of Connecticut, Marion Taylor of Sullivan; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Dana Wilson of Houlton. In addition to his parents, Claude was predeceased by two wives, Elsie Katherine Nickerson, Lillian (Stitham) Nickerson; a brother, Ralph Nickerson; and three sisters, Vivian Gehan, Hilda Beers, and Carie Goren.
Friends may call at the Dunn Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating with a Masonic service preceding. Interment with military honors will take place following the service at Hodgdon Cemetery.
