POWERFUL STUFF — Presque Isle firefighter Dave Lovley and Cornerstone Christian Academy student Lilianna Wardwell hold the hose during a demonstration at the school.
Students were taught what to do in the case of smoke or fire. Lovley dressed up in fire gear so students would know what a firefighter would look like if they were ever to be helped or rescued. Students were also allowed inside the cab of a fire truck, which was as fun as it was informative.
A few weeks after this presentation, CSI and Game Warden Steve Wipperman and Smokey Bear paid a visit to CCA. Wipperman shared important information about fire safety and students watched a short video on the subject. All were very excited when this presentation ended with a visit from Smokey.
Each student received a fire safely packet to take home and a Smokey Bear “Be Careful with Fire” heat transfer. Pre-K and Kindergarten students used their heat transfers to make pillows in class.
