Abigail Theresa Kinens, daughter of Rob and Lee Ann Kinens of Houlton, graduated from Hebron Academy on May 25.
Kinens completed her junior and senior years at Hebron. She was a high honors scholar elected to Cum Laude Society as a senior. She was the recipient of the Tyler-Grandmaison Scholarship Prize “given to a graduating senior from Maine who has overcome obstacles and who has made a positive contribution to the school community,”
and the Reed Athletic Award in recognition of fine spirit, improvement of skills, devotion to athletic teams and an unselfish determination to contribute to Hebron’s athletic success. Kinens was also awarded the Elks National Scholarship for the next four years of college.
Kinens is a gifted photographer, who earned a Gold and Silver Key honors for her submission to the nationally respected Scholastic Art and Writing Awards; her work was recently honored at a local photography competition and featured in a gallery in Lewiston.
Kinens was a key contributor to her varsity soccer, ice hockey and lacrosse teams and was a Green Key, Hebron’s tour guide group. She also played violin with the Upper School Orchestra. She plans to attend the University of New England in Biddeford in the fall.
