CARIBOU — The annual Academic Awards Night for the Caribou High School was held on May 23, organized by the members of the school’s National Honor Society and funded by the Caribou School Department.

Caribou High School students recently recognized for their high grade point averages included students with accumulative GPA’s of 94 and above who earned the distinction of highest honors, from left, front row: Kelsie Espling, Emma Duplissie-Cyr, Alissa Randolph, Olivia Sleeper, Kendra Stephens, Kayla Cormier, Alexis McCrossin, Ashley Richards, Mackenzie Belyea, Haley Hunter, Meredith Sleeper and Devin Ballard. Caribou High School Principal Mark Jones complimented the students on their academic achievements and urged them to continue striving for success.
Jones and Assistant Principal David Wakana awarded Academic Achievement Certificates, Principal’s Awards and Academic Excellence Pins to high school students based upon their honor roll attainment for three consecutive ranking periods.
The academic disciplines of Caribou High School made the following awards:
English Language Arts
• Freshmen: Ben Ezzy and Chathu Karunasiri,
• Sophomore: Kristopher Michaud and Albany McCabe,
• Junior: Corlyn Cavender and Clara Collins, and
• Senior: Tiffany Bishop and Jubilee MacLeod.
Mathematics
• Freshman: Caleb Hunter,
• Sophomore: Nathan Wall,
• Junior: Matthew Theriault, and
• Senior: Alexis McCrossin.
Social Studies
• Freshman: Spencer Savage,
• Sophomore: Brendan Cyr, and • Junior: Emilee Sirois.
Daughter’s of the American Revolution Award for Excellence in History
• Ethan Caron.
Hitchings/Novy/Willey Award
• Ashley Richards.
Sciences
Stephen Bielinski Memorial Award
• Given to the seniors with the highest average in lab sciences for four years, Kayla Cormier and Meredith Sleeper.
CHS Science Department Award
• Given to the senior demonstrating the most outstanding personal achievement, Chelsea Bard.
World Languages
Academic Excellence in French

During the Academic Awards Night, individual awards were given to members of the Mathematics Team by Coach Vanda Madore.
They were, first-year participants Ben Ezzy, Brianna Judd, Kelsey Kiehn, Erin Patton and Megan Theriault. Second-year members: Dylan Conroy, Caleb Hunter and David Hunter. Third-year members Quriocity Garcia, Elysee Kiehn and Matthew Theriault.
Individual awards were also given to members of the Chess Team by Coach Stephen Burden: awards were presented to team members Kate Finemore, David Hunter, Caleb Hunter, Sarah Draper, Ricky Perry and Alexander Murchison. Receiving the distinction of Most Valuable Player were Rickey Perry and Nolan Powers.
Superintendent Franklin McElwain and Assistant Superintendent Lois Brewer assisted with the awarding of the Senior Honor Clothing; students with an accumulative GPA of 85-91.99 each received a T-shirt with the logo of Honor Roll. Students with a GPA of 92-92.99 each received a long-sleeved T-shirt with the logo of Honors. Students with a GPA of 93-93.99 each received a crew neck shirt with the logo of High Honors and students with a GPA of 94 or better each received a hooded sweatshirt with the logo of Highest Honors.
An old fashioned Ice-Cream Social was held following the awards ceremony in the cafeteria.
Chairing the committee to organize the event were Caribou NHS President Devin Ballard, Vice President Mackenzie Belyea, Executive Committee Member Meredith Sleeper and Corresponding Secretary Kelsie Espling.
