Mary Lou Pomeroy and daughter, Jane, traveled down to Island Falls recently from Caribou to visit with friends Patti Hartin and myself. They didn’t get to see Patti but did visit with me for an hour or so before heading back up country.
Greg and Sara Douglas are now in their home on the Pond Road, having returned recently from spending the winter in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. They both enjoy golfing, but as the weather has been so wet they haven’t been able to get on the golf course much. Galen and Lois Green have moved from town to their cottage on upper Mattawamkeag Lake where they will stay during the summer months.
I have had a great time the past week mowing all of my huge lawn, the church lawn and also my good neighbor’s lawn before the rain started up again. As the grass grows so fast the first part of the summer, I’ll soon be at it again.
I have taken down one bird feeder, but left a couple as I still have quite a few birds around. I have seen several wrens, red poles and chickadees lately, and once in awhile I have a blue Jay. Weather hasn’t been very warm, so I think they get pretty hungry for the sunflower seeds. I still haven’t seen the pesky squirrels for some time, for which I am thankful. And every afternoon the pair of black birds arrive and always perch on the same limb of my birch tree out behind my house. Then they wait (or so it seems) for me to throw out some bread crumbs which they immediately devour. I am hoping that the deer will show up some time this summer and bring their young ones, so I can watch them leaping and chasing around down back.
