An adoption success story

Jake was brought to the shelter as a stray from Wade on March 28. Staff members noticed that he had a large growth in his mouth and was taken to the veterinarian where he was X-rayed and examined.
Once examined the veterinarian stated that he had a tumor that did not look very good and thought it might be cancerous. They had indicated they could do a punch biopsy in order to obtain a definite diagnosis but that would cost $210.
Thanks to the generosity of a gentleman who frequents the animal shelter, who offered to pay for Jake’s medical expenses, the Central Aroostook Humane Society was able to have this procedure done. The test result came back inconclusive. The veterinarian called the pathologist and discussed the case with them to which they decided that it really did not show signs of being malignant. The veterinarian said that if it were him, he would adopt Jake out and just inform the new owners that he might need to have the growth shaved down at some point or that it may never need to be.
With that being said, Jake finally went to his new forever home on June 1.
Please consider making room in your heart and home for one of the animals available at the Central Aroostook Humane Society’s animal shelter. June is Adopt a Shelter Pet Month and we have many cats and dogs that need loving homes! Visit us at 26 Cross Street in Presque Isle to adopt the forever pet that is right for you.
