A TWO-VEHICLE ACCIDENT Monday afternoon on Carmichael Street remains under investigation. Here, emergency personnel assist Reta Gallagher, 81, of Presque Isle, to a stretcher following the crash.
The Presque Isle Police Department responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash that occurred around 3:49 p.m. on June 24 near low-income housing on Carmichael Street.
“Reta Gallagher, 81, of Presque Isle, was traveling northbound in a 1994 Volvo wagon. Mitchell Longley, 24, of Presque Isle, was southbound in a 1998 Buick Le Sabre, attempting to turn into the apartment complex,” said Sgt. Eric Erickson, investigating officer with the PIPD.
Erickson said he’s still investigating what caused the crash. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and suffered only minor injuries. As a precaution, Gallagher was transported by Crown Ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center to be evaluated.
Both vehicles sustained front-end damage and had to be towed from the scene.
Erickson received assistance from the Presque Isle Fire Department.
