PRESQUE ISLE — A Woodland man remains hospitalized following an accident on the Parkhurst Siding Road late Saturday afternoon.

“On June 23 at approximately 4:20 p.m. the Presque Isle Police Department received a call of a personal injury accident on the Parkhurst Siding Road,” said Deputy Chief Laurie Kelly, of the PIPD.
The injured man was identified as Jason Nardone, 39, of Woodland.
“Nardone was traveling north on the Parkhurst Siding Road in a 1972 Chevrolet Malibu when he lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway. The vehicle struck a telephone pole and came to rest in the ditch. Mr. Nardone was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Moises Ortiz, 35, of Steuben, was a passenger in the car and was not wearing his seatbelt,” said Kelly.
“Nardone was transported by Crown Ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center, suffering from multiple injuries (later identified as injuries to his legs and arm). Nardone was later flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor where treatment continues. No additional information was available on his condition at presstime.
Crown Ambulance transported Mr. Ortiz to TAMC with non-life-threatening injuries and he was admitted for treatment. No additional information was available on Ortiz’s condition either.
“As a result of the crash, the roadway was shut down for approximately three hours while officers investigated the crash and the telephone pole was replaced. The vehicle was a total loss and was towed from the scene by Mike Cowett’s Towing of Presque Isle,” said Kelly.
The force of the impact split the vehicle apart.
Kelly said the cause of the accident is currently under investigation but speed is considered a factor in the crash.
Officer Joey Seeley, PIPD, is the primary investigating officer. Seeley was assisted by PIPD Officers Kyle White, Ryan Eagles and Kevin Reed. Trooper Rob Flynn, of the Maine State Police, was called in to reconstruct the accident. Also assisting at the scene were crews from the Presque Isle Fire Department and the Maine Department of Transportation.
