AR Julia AdlerAdler, Julia B., 78, June 27, 2013.  Memorial service to be held at Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church, New Sweden, at 10 a.m. on July 6, 2013.

Julia joined her family around the heavenly throne on June 27, 2013. She was born March 12, 1935, the daughter of Milton and Bernice (McIntosh) Butler. On May 6, 1953, she was united in marriage to Melvin Adler. They spent most of their life together on their farm in New Sweden. She considered her greatest accomplishment on earth to be her family. Each member brought a unique and invididual relationship into her life that sustained all the joy, happiness, and proud moments. Their individual visits, phone calls, e-mails, family gatherings, and other special occasions were treasured. Their support during difficult times and sorrow provided strength to go on. She enjoyed looking at a sky filled with stars, sparkling snow crystals, working in her flower garden, photography, writing, and doing genealogy. Her entire career in nursing was at Cary Medical Center where she held various positions and fulfilled her ambition to be a nurse since she was a small child. She was a member of the Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church and was active in the women’s group, edited the church newsletter, and served in several other positions.
She was predeceased by her husband on September 19, 2003. She is survived by her son, Terry; her son, Tim and wife, Judy; and her daughter, Nancy. Grandchildren and their families include Emily Adler, Forrest and Austin Taggett, Michael, Danielle, Madeleine, and Eli Guerrette, Kevin and Holly Adler, Alicia Lyons, Terry Joe, Shawn, Caitlin, and Ethan Adler, Darren, Carrie, Taylor, and Andrew Duso. She had a close relationship with her nephew, Joe Ruggles, and his children, Rick, Amber, Ashley, and their families. Her other nieces and nephews and their families also held a very special place in her heart. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Dick Ruggles, and sisters-in-law, Joan Butler and Margaret Adler. In her later years, her two dogs, Jezzie and Benji, were her faithful companions. She was predeceased by her father in 1960; her mother in 1984; her brother, Gerald Butler in 1995, and her sister, Fran Ruggles in 2009.
