From the Bunkers

The 4th of July week was a very busy one at the Houlton Community Golf Course, with several events on tap.
Last Friday, the Houlton High School Alumni Social was held, with Patty Fitzpatrick and Lauren Fitzpatrick doing an outstanding job organizing this event. Approximately 200 people enjoyed each other’s company.

The Class of 1973 celebrated its 40th reunion last Friday and the Class of 1993 celebrated its 20th reunion last Saturday.
Special thanks goes to Lee Dow and his new Putter’s Pub crew for doing a great job catering all of these functions.  We want to welcome everyone, whether you play golf or not, to come out to the club for a snack or lunch from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
Eighteen teams participated in the 2013 Alumni Scramble last Saturday, which was open to non-alumni as well. This fund-raising event was enjoyed by all.
The winners were: First, Jamie Hunt, Jacob Hunt, Beth Hunt and Ryan Dee, with seven under 29; second, Don Collins, Marion Collins, Greg Palmer and Mickey Fein, six under 30; and third, Doug Ritchie, Natasha Ritchie, Jenn Carr and Alex Donovan, five under 31.
Junior Golf is in its third week and again is under the very capable leadership of Bruce Nason and David Grant. There is still time to enroll a junior in this program, but hurry. Call the clubhouse at 532-2662 for more information.
Thanks to everyone for a great week. Come on out and play golf; it’s lots of fun and good exercise, too.
