A father-son duo from Caribou finished in the top two positions at the inaugural Mapleton Farm Fest 5K Mile Run June 30.
Fourteen-year-old Dillon Beckum won the race in 20 minutes and 44 seconds and his father, Thomas, was the runner-up in 20:53.
Two other Caribou runners were next, as Jeremy Doak finished in 22:18 and Andres Fleury in 23:15.
Nicole Hanscom of Caribou was the women’s champion in 25:53 and she finished seventh overall..
The Beckums also traveled to Bar Harbor on July 4 for the 11th annual Around MDI Relay. The Beckum’s team, Scampered and Still Furious won the 61.09-mile race by a margin of only 15 seconds.
The team’s time was 7 hours, 44 minutes and 43 seconds. Dillon Beckum ran the seventh leg, which was 8.45 miles in length, in 53:50. Thomas Beckum ran the eighth of nine legs and logged a time of 42:08 for the 6.7-mile distance.
