Border League All-stars fourth out of 16 teams in Little League 9-10-year-old action

    The Border League All-stars’ winning string in the District 3 9-10-year-old Little League Tournament came to an end last week as they “ran out of gas” against Bangor West.
    Border League finished in the top four of the 16-team tournament.

    The Border League players had lost their first game of the tournament and had to make their way back through the grueling loser’s bracket.

    With a 2-1 record —  defeating Sebasticook (17-16) and Bangor East (13-3), and falling to Old Town (12-0) — the Border League stayed alive in the double elimination tournament knocking off Orono-Veazie, 12-2 last Tuesday.
    Trevor Schools picked up the win for Border League, striking out four. Supporting Schools from the plate were Josh Foster with three singles to drive in two runs; Jacob Ritchie singled three times for three RBI and Austin Winslow singled twice and drove in two runs.
    In their next contest, Border League overpowered Holbrook, 16-6, with Winslow picking up the win from the rubber, with six strikeouts.
    Leading hitters were Silas Graham, who singled, doubled twice and drove in three runs; Foster singled, tripled and brought in two runs and Brock Thompson rapped two base hits.
    In their last game of the tournament, Border League was blanked 18-0 by Bangor West.
    Ritchie led Border League with two singles, while Logan Bowmaster and Graham each stroked a single.
