Mother, son injured in crash

    T14 R6 — An early morning crash Monday on Route 11 south of Eagle Lake injured two people from Fort Kent.

    “At approximately 5 a.m., the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single motor vehicle accident on Route 11 in T14 R6, about one mile south of Soucy Hill,” said investigating officer, Deputy Kris Malmborg, of the ACSO.
    According to Malmborg, the vehicle — a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban — was being driven by 19-year-old Travis Caron, of Fort Kent.
    “Caron’s vehicle went off the road and hit a large tree, causing Caron to become pinned in the SUV. Caron was accompanied by his mother, 45-year-old Linda Caron, also of Fort Kent,” he said.
    Caron’s father (no name given) was in a separate vehicle at the time of the crash and immediately called 9-1-1.Eagle Lake Fire and Rescue, Ambulance Service Inc. out of Eagle Lake, Saucier’s Towing, Ashland Ambulance and the Ashland Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and assisted in extricating Travis Caron from the vehicle using hydraulic equipment.
    “Caron and his mother were transported to the Northern Maine Medical Center. Both were in stable condition and being treated for their injuries as of noontime on Monday. The degree of injury to both occupants is unknown at this time,” said Malmborg.
    No additional information was available at presstime.
    The vehicle was a total loss and was removed from the scene by Saucier’s Towing. There are no charges pending and the accident remains under investigation.
