Rotary Club inducts officers

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday, July 2, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. New officers were inducted.
President is Bruce Hussey, Vice President is Larry Fletcher, Secretary is Richard Watson, Treasurer is Rena Kearney, Director is Jim Shaw. Two other directors will be appointed. Immediate Past President is Tomi Henderson.

A NEW NURSERY EXPANSION
A NEW NURSERY expansion is planned at the United Baptist Church in Mars Hill. A baby dedication took place on June 23 with five of the newest arrivals. Pictured from the left are: Darrell holding son Collin and Erica McCrum holding daughter Catherine Grace, born on February 28; next are Alex and Lianne Bourgoin with son Jachin Elias, born early on April 2; Brandon and Laura Hale with daughter Lucy Jane, born on April 4; Megan and Ethan Birmingham with daughter Shea Chandler, born on May 2; and Emma and Erick Martinez holding son Elisha Leandro, born May 3.
THE MIRACLE MILE

After the Bell
Activities continue to be limited this week at After the Bell as the children are attending Wilderness Day Camp.
Activities will resume in full swing next week with Art Camp. Art Camp will be held Tuesday, July 16 and Thursday, July 18 from 10-11:30 a.m. at our Main Street, Mars Hill, location. Children may come at 10 and stay for the day. Parents can pick their children up at 3 p.m.
Tuesday will be Art Camp; come and play, lunch is provided for free, the afternoon will be canoeing/kayaking.
Thursday is Art Camp; come and play, lunch provided for free and the afternoon will be cooking and gardening.
During art camp, participants will complete a variety of projects that will then be displayed at the Northern Maine Fair. Cost is $12 per child for the week. Please contact Jamie Guerrette 227-7194 to register. Children age 5 and older are welcome to participate, no residency required.
On Wednesday, July 19, will be Waterslides and Mini Golf at Jellystones. There is still time to sign up; contact Jamie at 227-7194 to register. Cost is $25 per child. Note: this trip will max out, so please let Jamie know if you plan to attend. A birth certificate or passport card is needed for children. Adults must have a passport card to ride the bus.
Bridgewater Historical Association
The Bridgewater Historical Association would like to welcome everyone to come and enjoy the sounds of Outside In on Thursday nights from 6-9 p.m. There is no cover charge, however, donations are greatly appreciated as they help keep this event and the hall in operation. Refreshments are available at the hall.
We are still collecting items for our yard sales. If you would like to make a donation please contact any member of the BHA or call Jann at 425-7901. Please, no clothing or electronics.
We are planning to hold a canine cop demonstration in the near future at the hall, so keep your eyes open for updates on this and other events at the BHA hall. Thank you all for your support.

Upcoming events for the week of July 10-16 include: Wednesday will have the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Table Tennis at 9:30 a.m. and Crossword Challenge at 1:30 p.m. Thursday will have the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., Horse Racing at 1:30 p.m. and Faith Baptist Church at 6:30 p.m. Friday will feature Coffee Chat at 9:30 a.m. and a Patio Social with Ice Cream Cones at 1:30 p.m. Saturday will feature the APC Church Service at 3 p.m. Sunday will be a free day. Monday will feature Moving and Memories at 9:30 a.m., Nail Beautiful at 10 a.m., Communion with Pastor Blakney at 1:30 p.m. and Gospel Group at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Karaoke with Fireman Fred at 1:30 p.m. All of these activities are subject to change. If you would like to volunteer to help with any of these activities, call Connie or Vicki at 768-4915.
Cooking Contest
The Maine Agri-Women will host a Potato Cooking Contest as part of the 66th Maine Potato Blossom Festival. They would like to promote and bring attention to the importance of the potato to Aroostook County.
There are six categories: Breads, Casseroles, Desserts, Salads, Soups and Appetizers. Winners in each category will be based on four qualities: Appearance, Texture, Ease of Preparation and Flavor. Each recipe must have fresh Maine potatoes as an ingredient. Contestants must bring a copy of the complete recipe along with the dish. Contestants may cook a recipe for two categories.
The event will take place in the Fort Fairfield Elementary School Cafeteria on Saturday, July 20. Entrants are encouraged to bring in their dishes between 9:45 and 10:15 a.m. Judging will begin at 10:30 a.m. Grand Prize will be worth $150. There will also be a first and second prize in each category.
