NELSON, Michael A., 63, FORT FAIRFIELD and CARIBOU, at Bangor, July 9, 2013. Arrangements are in the care of Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.

 FORT FAIRFIELD and CARIBOU – Michael A. NelsonARSH Michael Nelson OB2 63, passed away Tuesday morning, July 9, 2013, at a Bangor healthcare facility, after a brief illness. He was born May 25, 1950, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Ralph F. and Vivian L. (Campbell) Nelson.  American Flag Color
    He was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School Class of 1968 and also attended the University of Maine at Augusta. He went on to serve his country with the United States Navy as a communications officer during the Vietnam War, worked as a State of Maine Potato Inspector for a few years and had been employed by the Lane Construction Corporation as office manager at their Presque Isle office, retiring in 2010 after more than thirty years of dedicated service.
    Mr. Nelson was a lifelong communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield.
    An avid golfer, Mike was a member of the Aroostook Valley Country Club, Fort Fairfield, and enjoyed traveling, animals and was a crossword puzzle enthusiast.
    Mr. Nelson was predeceased by his father, Ralph F. Nelson; one brother, Robert P. Nelson; one nephew, Scott L. Nelson.
    He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Vivian L. and Larry Harshman of Sun City, AZ; two brothers, Ronald D. Nelson of Mapleton, Keith F. Nelson and his wife, Diane of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Catherine “Kitty” Nelson of Phoenix, AZ; three nephews, Justin Klum and Dylan Nelson, both of Phoenix, AZ, and special nephew, Callum Nelson of Fort Fairfield; two nieces, Jessica Santos of Milford, MA, Kayla Nelson of Phoenix, AZ; several aunts and uncles including a special uncle, Glenn Campbell of Fort Fairfield. He also leaves behind a special lifelong friend, Stephen P. Dorsey of Fort Fairfield, and dear friend and caregiver, Sharon (Fields) Dorsey of Cape Canaveral, Florida and Fort Fairfield.
    Friends call Saturday, July 13, 2013, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a service celebrating Mr. Nelson’s life was conducted at 11 a.m. with Father Raymond Morency officiating. Interment with military honors took place after the service at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments was held at the home of Travis and Carolyn Dorsey-Durepo, 153 Main St., Fort Fairfield immediately after the interment service.
