MACHIAS — The following local residents were among more than 280 students from the University of Maine at Machias who were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester:
Patrick Blanchette, Jean Lake, Earlene McEwen, Olivia Nickerson and Sarah Valji, all from Houlton; and Brittany Brewer of Smyrna Mills.
The University of Maine at Machias is New England’s only public Environmental Liberal Arts college, offering an undergraduate education uniquely grounded in the natural, social, cultural, and economic environments of coastal Maine. As the smallest member of the University of Maine System, UMaine-Machias enrolls an average of 1,000 students with a student-faculty ratio of 13:1, and offers degree programs in 12 fields of study.
