ISLAND FALLS — Calling all youngsters and pets, the deadlines to sign up for the Island Falls Summerfest Kids Pageant and Jarrica Rose Emery Pet Show are fast approaching.
The pageant will be held Saturday, July 27, at 3 p.m. for children ages birth to 14. A dress rehearsal will be held Wednesday, July 24 at 6 p.m. The event is held in the Island Falls Municipal Building.
According to Summerfest organizer Ruth Frazier, the children’s pageant was canceled last year due to lack of numbers.
Age group categories for boys and girls are Baby Wee-One, infant to age 1; Wee Ones, 1-year-olds; Tiny Tots, ages 2-3; Sunshine Kids, ages 4-5. A pageant for girls only will feature Little Miss, ages 6-8; Junior Miss, ages 9-11; and Miss, ages 12-14.
Registration costs $15 per child for all categories, except the Miss category, which costs $20. The pageant theme will be “Hollywood Style.”
On Monday, July 29, at 6 p.m., the annual Jarrica Rose Emery Pet Show will be held at the Island Falls Municipal Building. All are welcome. Prizes will be awarded. All animals must be on leash.

The cost of admittance will be $1 per person and anything you can donate to local animal shelter, cat food, dog food, animal toys, blankets, bleach, etc.
