Troop F of the Maine State Police in Houlton responded to the following incidences from Monday, July 1 to Sunday, July 7 in the Houlton Pioneer Times’ coverage area.
Monday, July 1
• Trooper Sylvia and Sgt. Haines investigated an unattended death in Bridgewater. A 65-year-old Lincoln man was working on the bridge project and was on break when he went into distress and became unconscious. A co-worker attempted CPR until the ambulance arrived, but his death was pronounced at the scene. The man
had a history of high blood pressure and his death appeared related to natural causes. Nothing suspicious was noted at the scene.
Tuesday, July 2
• Trooper Flynn arrested a 49-year-old Bangor man on a warrant while running traffic on a Route 2 construction detail.
Wednesday, July 3
• Troopers Saucier, Flynn and Casavant assisted Troop E with the Phish concert in Bangor.
Thursday, July 4
• Troopers Saucier and Sylvia responded to Glenwood Plantation for a domestic dispute. As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old New Hampshire woman was arrested for assaulting her sister. The woman was heavily intoxicated and had to be cleared by Houlton Regional Hospital for injuries before being taken to jail.
Saturday, July 6
• Troopers Casavant and Sylvia and Sgt. Haines conducted a safety checkpoint on the Drew’s Lake Road in Houlton. In about an hour, 43 cars passed through the checkpoint coming from camps and a class reunion. No one was found to have been drinking prior to driving. A Houlton man was charged with OAS.
• Trooper Saucier and Sylvia investigated a personal injury crash in Island Falls. The male operator, whom Trooper Saucier previously charged with OUI last year, was again highly intoxicated and drove off a dirt roadway striking a tree and sustained internal injuries. The man was transported to Houlton Regional Hospital and charged with OUI.
Sunday, July 7
• Trooper Saucier investigated a shoplifting complaint at Jerry’s Thriftway in Island Falls and as a result arrested a 53-year-old Island Falls man on a bail violation.
