He later met and married his current wife, Sandy Sullivan. He was an engineer for over 40 years and retired from Lockheed Martin in 2007.
Roland enjoyed cooking, woodworking, gardening, photography, traveling and loved the outdoors. He will be remembered for his clever nature, for always telling a good joke, and the many bouquets he brought to the ladies where he worked. He was a generous and kind person, always willing to help a friend. Many homes have treasures he personally made for friends and loved ones, from woodworking to stained glass, to homemade pickles.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy; son, Derek Monson and his wife, Jessica, of Windham, NH; daughter, Megan Armstrong and her husband, Richard, of Windham, NH; four grand-children, Jack Armstrong, Paul Armstrong, Avery Monson, and Adrienne Monson, all of Windham, NH; two brothers, Rellan Monson and his wife Susan, of Chatham, MA, and Roger Monson and his wife, Each, of Anchorage, AK; sister, Ruth Hall of Homer, AK; aunts, Florence Gallagher of Caribou, Kora Maynard of Washburn, and Pat Conroy of Grants Pass, OR; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
