PRESQUE ISLE — A new business specializing in women’s lingerie and nightwear is now open at 55 State Rd.
Whether you’re looking for something for a bridal shower or just want to spice up a longtime relationship, Twisted Knickers LLC is the place to shop.

Rachael McDivitt, of Presque Isle, said she’s always had an entrepreneurial spirit and felt now was the time to start a new venture.
“This is the fifth business I’ve owned since I was 19. Being an entrepreneur comes naturally to me. This will be my first time as a full-time business owner. I’ve done candy, soap and body products before, as well as being a Passion Party consultant,” said McDivitt.
She said branching out from the home party circuit seemed like the next logical step.
“That (at-home parties) was a lot of fun and kept me busy. I did well with it. But due to time constraints, including family commitments, I opted out of hosting parties,” said McDivitt. “I enjoy working with customers and served as a customer service rep at MMG for nearly six years.”
The store officially opened on July 16, after months of preparation.
“I’ve been working with NMDC since November. They helped with my business plan and cash flow. They also helped subsidize my business. I received funding through them. I also received a grant through Women, Work and Community for advertising,” she said.
McDivitt said community support has been great.
“The community has been looking to attract more business and are very supportive, especially for those run by women,” said McDivitt.
She said some of the brands she carries include: Seven Til Midnight, Jolynn, Isabella, Dream Girl and more.
“I have a wide selection of evening wear, lingerie and novelty items. Whether you’re looking for party favors or a gift for a bridal shower, something for that special anniversary or want to bring a little spice back into your relationship, you can find it at Twisted Knickers,” McDivitt said.
McDivitt said, “while I specialize in items for larger women, I do carry merchandise for various sizes. I carry sizes from small to 5X. I wanted to specialize in plus size, since lingerie generally runs in smaller sizes elsewhere.”
The shop features a bright, clean retail space with plenty of natural lighting thanks to the many windows. There’s a spacious dressing room area that allows customers plenty of privacy. Novelty items are discretely placed in a private area of the store.
McDivitt said she’s pleased with customer response so far.
“I’ve had both men and women stop by the shop. It was a good first day. The girls around here are excited about buying something to fit straight off the rack,” said McDivitt.
“It’s all about having fun with that special someone,” said McDivitt.
