Five-month-old Emmett Anderson inspects the rubber ducks that were competing in the Mad River Run in Stockholm on the Fourth of July. Contestants purchase the ducks that are then released in the Aroostook River and float about 200 feet to the finish line. The first duck to cross the line wins $300 for its owner. This year’s winner was Carol Sodergren. Second place went to John Sodergren and third place to Trinca Coffin. Mark Dan Savoy’s duck came in fourth. The race is held every year. Ducks cost $5 each.
