First, a correction from last week’s Twilight League report; Peter Blood and Greg Gayne were the winners over Stu Kelly and Jon Smallwood. Results from Tuesday July, 16: Dick Kelly and Jim Flynn beat Tim Thoreson and Ola Tucker; Warren Walker and Bill Dwyer bested Scot and Ethan Walker; Ken Delano and Reid Stanley beat Joe McAuliffe

and Stephen Walker; and Ralph Powers and Ted Pettengill narrowly won over Ben Walker and Brian McAuliffe. Peter Blood and Greg Gayne tied with Steve and Parker Walker; and Tom Ryan and Pete Lawlor were tied with Brent Kelly and Tom Daggett when they were rained out after eight holes. Warren Walker won closest to the pin on No. 11 with 11 feet, 10 inches.
Due to the wet forecast Moonlight Golf was postponed from Friday to Saturday night. Six teams were in competition with the team of Steve, Melissa, Parker and Hunter Walker taking first net and Jon and Betty Smallwood and Stuart and Becky Kelly taking first gross.
The Sunday afternoon couples scramble was well attended this week with 23 golfers, and six teams for a mixed couples scramble. First place was taken by the team of Greg Douglas, Kerry McNally, Valerie Powers and Diana Tucker. Coming in a close second was Becky Kelly, Fern Zepp, Ola Tucker and Peter Blood. Capturing third place was Stuart Kelly, Sara Douglas and Scot Savage.
Remember, you don’t have to be a couple to join in on the Sunday afternoon fun. Singles are welcomed. And as a reminder, please respect the golfers that are on the golf course and don’t cut in front of them. For many, weekends are the only time they have to play.
The Carlton Project Charity Scramble is coming up on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. This is a four-person scramble with cash prizes, great door prizes and a lunch sponsored by Subway. The entry fee is $200 per team, which includes cart rental. Call 538-1765 or 768-1000 for more information.
Don’t forget about the “County Open” taking place on Friday, Aug. 2 at VaJoWa with a scramble at 1 p.m. and the County Open Championship on Saturday and Sunday Aug. 3 and 4 at VaJoWa and Houlton Country Club. There is some great golf ahead at VaJoWa.
