David L. Jackins is a graduate of the University of Maine theatre and speech department. He is a playwright/director/off-Broadway actor, as well as a set and lighting designer for most of Crystal Theatre’s productions. Jackins founded “Creative Summer”, a multi-arts summer camp, 12 years ago at the Mead School for Human Development.

He also teaches at Mead School. Jackins’ play, “Louder Than Words”, will receive its fourth production on Nov. 20 and 21 at the Roosevelt Center featuring a cast of high school students, college students and adults. The play pioneers a new form, which Jackins refers to as “musical dramedy.” The music acts as a commentary on the action, except in situations where the play’s characters would actually be singing “in real life.” This play features music and lyrics by Cheryl Kemeny.
Jackins was the first winner of the Bob Johnson Scholarship, awarded by the Houlton Children’s Theatre. He is a graduate of Houlton High School class of 1979, and also graduated from University of Maine-Presque Isle.
