Limestone Community School fall sports will begin in August.
Varsity boys’ soccer tryouts are slated Aug. 5-9 from 8-10 a.m. each day.
Varsity girls’ soccer tryouts are on the same dates with varying times. Aug. 5, 4:30-6:30 p.m.; Aug. 6, 4:30-6:30 p.m.; Aug. 7, 8-9:30 a.m.; Aug. 8, 5-6:30 p.m.; and Aug. 9, 4-6 p.m.
Varsity cross country practices begin Aug. 12 at 4 p.m.
Varsity golf will meet from 3:30-5 p.m. at Limestone Country Club Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning Aug. 7.
Middle level girls soccer tryouts are slated for Aug. 6-9 from 10-11:30 a.m. each day.
All interested athletes must have a valid physical on file with the RSU 39 school nurse before they can participate. For more information, call the school at 325-4700.
Girs’ alumni game slated Aug. 6
The Caribou High School girls soccer alumni game will be held Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. at CHS. All former Viking players are welcome.
Soccer tryouts for CHS boys
Boys’ soccer tryouts at Caribou High School will be held Wednesday, July 31 and Thursday, Aug. 1 from 6-8 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 2 from 8-10 a.m.
All students entering grades 9-12 interested in playing soccer this fall on either the junior varsity or varsity team are encouraged to attend.
Soccer officials’ clinic scheduled Aug. 3
The Northern Maine Board of Approved Soccer Officials will conduct a clinic for prospective soccer officials Saturday, Aug. 3 at 9 a.m. in the ski building at the Caribou High School athletic complex.
Bob Stedt, NMBASO rules interpreter, will be the clinician.
Anybody 18 years of age or older who is interested in officiating the game of soccer this fall on the middle school and junior varsity levels in Aroostook County is urged to attend.
There is a $35 fee for the clinic. Pre-registration is recommended.

Golf tourney at AVCC benefits hall of fame
The third annual Maine Basketball Hall of Fame Golf Scramble will take place Friday, Aug. 2 at Aroostook Valley Country Club in Fort Fairfield. This will be a four-person Oldsmobile scramble with an 11 a.m. shotgun start. Registration will be from 10-10:45 a.m. The field is limited to the first 40 paid teams. Entry fee is $60 per person and includes a steak or chicken BBQ.
Over $4,000 in prizes will be awarded to the top two gross teams and top eight net teams. In addition, golfers will have a chance to win two hole-in-one prizes, including a 2013 Ford Focus on hole No. 15 and a $10,000 cash prize for a hole-in-one on hole No. 4.
Closest to the pin and a longest drive will also be held. An auction will also be part of the event.
The proceeds of this tournament will go to the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame in support of the hall that will be located in a wing of the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, which is now under construction and will be the future site of the Eastern Maine Basketball Tournament.

UMFK Summer Fun Run is Saturday
A five-kilometer road race is scheduled Saturday, Aug. 3 at the University of Maine at Fort Kent.
The race starts and ends at Alumni Memorial Field, with registration held at 8 a.m. at the UMFK Sports Center and the race under way at 9 a.m. The fee to register is $20. Call Eric at 834-7828 for more information.
