NESHRM to host employment conference

    The Northeast Society for Human Resource Management (NESHRM) has announced the 17th annual Human Resource Conference will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19, at The Crow’s Nest Event Center in Presque Isle from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. This conference is designed for everyone from small business to large corporation, including: small-business owners, managers, supervisors, executives and human resource professionals.

    The conference theme is “Managing Through Times of Change.” Scheduled presenters include: Cara Miller, B.S., M.S., wellness coordinator — CMC Wellness, speaking on Promoting Employee Wellness; Rick Frank, director of information systems at The Aroostook Medical Center, discussing Social Media in the Workplace; Rufus Sames, labor program specialist with the Maine Department of Labor, will give pointers on Navigating the Unemployment Insurance System; Shawn Brennan, CHC, vice president of sales with Barresi Benefits Group, will provide an Affordable Care Act Update; and Kim Jones, public relations coordinator/Healthy You program director at Cary Medical Center, will wrap up the day discussing Employee Motivation, Morale and Retention.
    Lunch is provided for seminar attendees and various vendors will have displays and information available. Registration deadline is Saturday, Aug. 31, so please be sure to sign-up immediately.
    NESHRM is an affiliate of the national HR organization, The Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). Our chapter meetings are generally held on the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 a.m. at the Edmunds Conference Center at Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle. Meetings are open to anyone in the Aroostook County area in the HR profession. The meeting programs and speakers address pertinent HR management and legislative issues.
